Cyber Coaching, Preparation, Resilience

2021 was an incredibly dangerous year for cybercrime, and 2022 is shaping up to be no different. The US FBI reported potential losses of almost $7 billion from cybercrime in 2021, of which $2.4 billion was lost due to email compromises. Analytics firm Chainalysis found that over $600 million in cryptocurrency was sent to ransomware attackers, which is likely to rise estimated based on their previous years’ research.

The losses from cybercrime can extend beyond just the money extorted or stolen by the bad guys. Those losses can also include:

Regulatory fines

Business interruption

Damaged reputation

With so much potential damage from cybercrime, what can your organization do to prepare for the worst to weather the storm?

Helm Information Security and our Cyber Coaching, Preparation, and Resilience (CPR) program can help. Our goal is to help you prepare for the worst and ensure you can withstand the most common and devastating attacks. We have experience helping organizations recover from ransomware and other cyber incidents and will use that knowledge to help you avoid getting attacked in the first place.

Our Process

The Preparation phase starts with an assessment of your current environment. We’ll review your systems and applications to understand your risks.

  1. Inventory systems and applications

  2. Review configuration of systems and applications for risk

  3. Scan systems for vulnerabilities

After reviewing and assessing your organization for risk, we’ll work with your team to create plans for responding to incidents in your current state along with recommendations for improvements to ensure you are protected from as many threats as possible.

After assessing and planning during the Preparation phase, we’ll work through the Resilience phase to ensure your team is ready to handle incidents. The Resilience phase will be tailored to your needs, but can include:

  • Tabletop scenarios to get your organization familiar with the incident handling process

  • Live simulations to test the ability of your people, processes, and technology to detect and block common threats

  • Training for your team on your tools to detect and hunt for threats, along with drills to handle critical incidents

Cyber CPR can be performed as a one-time engagement, or it can be a recurring service with regular training and exercises.
